Eighteen days, 2,511 photos, a Tenerife return and a first Madrid
26 September - 13 October 2022
Read from 2,511 photo timestamps and coord-checked Madrid clusters that overturn an earlier Prado / Retiro reading.
The argument
Eighteen days in Spain - thirteen at La Orotava on Tenerife and three in Madrid. It was our second Tenerife stay in nineteen months, the same base and a familiar sweep of the island at half the length of the 2021 trip. The loudest day was a return to Buenavista del Norte on the rugged Teno coast, the corner that produced 2021’s biggest days. The Madrid half was a first, and it read as a Habsburg old-town walk - Plaza Mayor, the San Miguel market, the Royal Palace, the Templo de Debod - not the art-museum axis you might expect.

The Tenerife leg is interesting as a second visit, not as off-path. The trip’s editorial choice is what to repeat (Teno coast) and what to drop (the 2021 trip’s southern resort coast). The Madrid leg is canonical — no rescue from time-of-day either, all photos sit inside daylight tourist windows.
Negative space
absentGran CanariaVisited in 2021 as a paired island; not revisited in 2022. The trip is Tenerife-only.
absentPrado MuseumAn earlier brief named it a Madrid stop; coord-check shows 0 photos within 100 m. The Day-11 axis was Habsburg, not Paseo del Arte.
absentRetiro ParkSame as Prado — 0 photos at the park coord across 3 Madrid days.
absentToledo and SegoviaBoth within day-trip range of Madrid — neither photographed.
absentTeide National Park interiorPhotographed peripherally on 2021 — minimal coverage this trip, suggesting the centerpiece volcano hikes weren’t repeated.
A return that kept Tenerife’s NW Teno coast and dropped the southern resorts, paired with a Madrid debut that kept the Habsburg old town and dropped the Paseo del Arte museum axis. The user is editing both halves down from a longer template — Tenerife by skipping the 2021 trip’s southern reach, Madrid by skipping its art-museum reputation.
