Five late-October days from a single Istanbul base, the energy front-loaded into a Thursday and a Friday - the two big walking days at the heart of the week. The trip’s signature is the Sultanahmet compression: a single Friday morning that strings the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia and Topkapı together along one 800-metre walk, with Hagia Sophia drawing the largest cluster of the whole trip. The day before reached across the Bosphorus to Kadıköy and Moda - the only time the trip touched the Asian side - bracketed by a Grand Bazaar and Süleymaniye morning.
In via the new airport, then a first Eminönü evening that ended at the Spice Bazaar after eight. A half-day arrival shape - the airport run, settling in, one walk through the neighbourhood before dark.
