One spring day, 7.1 km of trail and 447 m of climb up the Valea Sâmbetei out of Stațiunea Climaterică Sâmbăta - the resort below the Brâncoveanu monastery and the western gateway to the Făgăraș range. The walk follows the valley stream toward Cabana Valea Sâmbetei, the mountain hut at the base of the wall under Vânătoarea lui Buteanu. 187 photos from the valley, the resort, and the adjacent villages of Drăguș and Sâmbăta de Sus, all inside the workout window. Top elevation ~1,366 m - a foothill-and-valley day in late April, when the high Făgăraș ridge is still under snow. Out-and-back from home, no overnight.

The whole trip is one valley. The trail leaves the resort along the Sâmbăta stream, climbs through spruce and beech up the glacial trough, and points at the cirque under Vânătoarea lui Buteanu where the hut sits. The GPS line tops out around 1,366 m - the valley floor below the high wall, not the ridge itself - and the photo cluster sits inside the workout window: the resort buildings, the stream crossings, the spring snowmelt, the village edges of Drăguș and Sâmbăta de Sus on the drive in and out. A short day, but a full one.
